The Intentional Career Path: One Thoughtful Detour at a Time Written by Gamaliel Baez, MovilDesk.pro Before heading out on vacation, we first plan the where, the why, the when, and the how. Similarly, before starting a job search, it helps to have a few things clear in our minds. Much like any journey, finding our next role takes preparation, patience, and the understanding that roadblocks and detours are part of the process. What matters most is having a plan for how to keep moving forward. Planning and setting off on our journey First, let’s pick a destination. To do so, we need to answer where, why, when, and how (train, plane, automobile). The same can be applied to our career journey: we should know the why, when, where, and how before heading out. What is our ultimate goal? Is it to find purpose and meaning in life, to fill a need, to pursue “FIRE!” (Financial Independence, Retire Early), or to secure a steady source of income—be it from retirement pensions and 401(k)s, a busines...

The Modern Administrative Professional: Making AI Your Superpower   AI: Ally or Rival? An Administrative Professional’s Perspective   By Gamaliel Baez   In my previous post in this series, AI: Ally or Rival?, we explored the long and surprising history of artificial intelligence—how early tools like spell‑checkers introduced simple automation into everyday work. We also discussed the importance of Administrative Professionals continuously evolving, growing, and developing new skills to stay relevant in an increasingly AI‑driven work environment.  This week, we’re taking the conversation further.  We’re looking at:  What AI does well  What AI does not do well  How AI can be a powerful ally    Human Advancement Always Brings Change  For the entirety of human history, emerging technologies have replaced earlier legacy tools, reshaping how work gets done. Prompt Engineering: How to Use AI for an ATS-Optimized Resume & Cover Letter

Prompt Engineering: How to Use AI for an ATS-Optimized Resume & Cover Letter Written by Gamaliel Baez, MovilDesk When prompting a LLM like ChatGPT, Gemini, or M365 Copilot for help with completing tasks, I rely on structured, multi-stage prompting rather than a single prompt. This approach improves accuracy and avoids (it doesn’t eliminate) hallucinations. You must review the results of each step before moving on to the next step. AI Prompting Guidelines: Define the role or persona Break the task into clear subtasks Specify output, format, and constraints. Defining the desired output, the format, and clear constraints helps significantly reduce AI drift. Build in review checkpoints before moving forward to the next step. The Role of the Administrative Professional in the Age of AI

The Changing Role of the Administrative Professional in the Age of AI Written and posted by Gamaliel Baez, MovilDesk The role of the administrative professional is evolving with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). Many communities, including content creators, manufacturing, the arts, and administrative support, are feeling apprehensive about the rapid advancement of AI. Since 1996, I have witnessed how technology has reshaped and redefined the administrative profession. Just as we instinctively move to the sunny side of the street when we feel cold in the shade, we must adapt to these changes. As AI begins to take over more of our foundational tasks, we must ask ourselves: What can we, as administrative professionals, do? The answer is simple: we can make a conscious decision to step into the light and adapt. Even as artificial intelligence handles more tasks, organizations cannot function efficiently without strong administrative support. Administrative professionals serve as th...

How Artificial Intelligence Became a Part of Our Daily Lives AI: Ally or Rival? An Administrative Professional’s Perspective Written and posted by Gamaliel Baez, MovilDesk, on LinkedIn on February 16, 2026 Artificial Intelligence has become a constant part of modern work, but its roots go back further than most people realize. Starting in 1959, two independently working teams influenced how we work as administrative professionals today. In the late 1950s at MIT, computer scientist Les Earnest began developing a program to recognize cursive handwriting. Using a dictionary of 10,000 common English words, by 1961 he had created a spell checker. In 1965, Earnest and his research moved to Stanford University to the Artificial Intelligence Lab (SAIL). In 1967, he hired a graduate student to develop a text-based spelling checker for text files that could produce a list of unrecognized words and their locations in the file. Later, in 1971, Ralph Gorin joined the team and advanced the project w...

Artificial Intelligence: Should we embrace it, fight it, or fear it? Written and posted by Gamaliel Baez, MovilDesk, on LinkedIn on October 17, 2018. An Administrative Professional’s Perspective: Artificial Intelligence: Should we embrace it, fight it, or fear it? - Gamaliel Baez. This article was originally posted on LinkedIn. Aside from some grammatical updates, the article remains the same as the posted version. Artificial Intelligence (AI), whether we realize it or not, is a big part of our daily lives. It is in our phones, cars, and homes, and the appliances and furnishings that fill these. AI seems to know everything about us. It knows what we want when we want it, even before we do. It can track every aspect of our lives, from how much sleep we are getting, the status of our health, our exercise routine, our circle of family and friends, and our interests. Today, we can even find AI in some form or other in the workplace. Some systems of AI have been with us for decades, and we ...
